Will Produces His 2nd Best Time at Telford 10k!

We’ve seen how India got on in the England 10k Champs at #Telford10k, now let’s see the one and only Mr Will Strangeway @willrs12 !

The @englandathletics marathoner was looking to secure a solid time with knowledge that this race is known to be popular and fast! That however, can also come with its drawbacks.

Will said, “I wasn’t even certain I’d be running it, as I had a couple of niggles a few weeks back. I picked Telford as I know the standard is top-tier and usually won in 28-odd minutes. So I could be taken around comfortably in a pack.”

On the drawbacks, Will found the following: “I found the course fairly tough with two tight hairpin turns around cones, plus overtaking people was difficult with the very narrow paths we were running on. I went off a little too quick with a 14:47 first 5k and paid for it a little in the second half.”

Overall however, it’s an 8-second improvement on his Trafford 10k back in March, and on this occasion he crossed the line in 30:15, his 2nd best time over the distance (with a seriously impressive PB of 29:55). This keeps him 14th in the UK at V35 over the road 10k. He finished as 5th V35M on this occasion.

He added, “I’m very pleased with the time, though, and a little surprised considering my last few weeks training.

Next up for Will is Valencia 10k in early January where he hopes to have a serious attempt at this PB!

He also gave some great words to those currently at the club. “I’m loving the current standard of our club. So many great performances through track, XC, and roads.”

Well done, Will!

Congratulations also goes to the third and final member of #LWAC during this race. @mattharman_running finished in 34:14 👏
