In an incredible U17 women’s race at the National Road Relays, where Ellarose Whitworth anchored LWAC to victory 💥 The tenacious team hit the front early on, with Isla Porter leading the charge for the club in 13:19. This then followed by a brilliant 14:10 from Mollie Grant. Topped off and victory sealed by Ellarose in 12:51! Not bad for the trio over a 3.88km leg! ⚡️ Lincoln Wellington’s girls have had a good year and they took the under-17 women’s title by nearly a minute from Aldershot.
Isla Porter – the English Schools 1500m fourth placer – gave them a good start by placing second on the first 3.88km stage with 13:19. This was behind Windsor’s fast improving Marnie Fieldsend (13:18), with the pair fifth and sixth quickest in the age group respectively.
Mollie Grant took Lincoln ahead mid-race with a stage best of 13:49 that was nearly matched by Molly Carvel, who moved Liverpool up seven places to second, but the Merseyside team were 32 seconds adrift of the lead and then dropped away.
Finally, it was the in-form Ellarose Whitworth, who was second in the delayed English National under-15 race three weeks earlier, who gave Lincoln Wellington a comfortable win, with the third best time of 13:12.
Our U13 boys finished 18th, where Charlie Johnson produced the 4th fastest leg of the field. The U13 girls took home a brilliant silver medal with Faye Goulsbra (9) leading out in 14:49, then Holly Norris (2) with a superb 14:01, and finished off by Amelie Ronnie (2) in 14:59. Holly’s being the 3rd fastest of the day! This age category produced another LWAC team, who finished 37th overall!
The U15 boys saw a 14th place finish, with a second, non-scoring side, also getting a run out. In the girls category, we saw a 20th place finish, as well as a 44th, and a non-scoring team too! Great representation from the U15 girls.
Our U17 men crossed the line in 34th place, the senior men failing to produce a team, and the senior women coming home in 32nd.
