Callum Winchester-Wright placed 2nd in the men’s 100m open event, clocking a wind-assistee 10.56s ⚡ he also gained his first England vest for the 4x100m relay, and was the third leg. Sadly, the baton was dropped in the first changeover, meaning he did not run. This is the life of a sprint relay team, yet Callum made a fantastic impression on the England coaches.

Debbie O’Connell went next in the women’s 100m Para Ambulant Challenger, going through in 14.18s in what was a very well contested line up. In the 200m she battled hard down the home straight, neck and neck with her opponent and pip them to the finish to place 2nd in 29.22s.

Finally, Mabel Akande raced the women’s 100m open event and stormed home in 11.37s to secure the win, before also representing her country in the 4x100m relay. More controversy unfolded here too, with a fall from her teammate, before picking themselves up and getting the baton round, with Mabel anchoring the team across the line.

All in all, a very successful day for our sprinters!
