Welcome, Georgia Marriott

Let’s have a little bit of an athlete spotlight, shall we?

Please welcome U13G sprinter, Georgia Marriott! The newly crowned U11G Merit Trophy (and U11 Training Trophy nominee) youngster has had a superb start to her athletics journey.

Georgia ran her first competitive race in the U13G in Sheffield in 2024. According to mum, Dawn, she was “super nervous as she didn’t think she stood a chance against the older girls”. However, she won her heat with an incredible time of 8.79s for the 60m sprint and finished 4th in the series leader board against 35 girls.

Dawn went on to say, “I feel like she’s got the potential to go really far with her running. I just hope she continues to enjoy it.

I want her to try a 150m or 200m too but she isn’t willing to! She also hinted at Georgia’s enjoyment, saying “Georgia is more keen on the track events rather than cross county, so I’ve entered her into a Sheffield indoor event.”

She feels that Georgia can improve under the tutelage of LWAC, ensuring she continues to progress and to also encourage competitions that are suggested for her.

“I’m doing what I can to get her exposed to competition.

I can see huge potential with her but need to keep her interest there too. It’s a long road ahead.”

Georgia has been a credit so far, winning in the 60m indoor in Sheffield (8.79s), 75m in Loughborough at the Charnwood Open (10.91s), and 80m at the @lincsathletics County Champs (11.9s).

She has also registered a long jump, cross country, and a parkrun, as well as a 600m race at the county champs, winning in 2:06.3!

Please give a big round of applause to Georgia, who has really excelled and grown in confidence as a first year athlete in the U13G category, racing well above her age last year as an 11 year old!

These races placed her in the UK top 40 for the 60m (i) running above her age category, and 60th for the 60m in 2025.
