@samatkin_ opened his season in stunning fashion yesterday with a race win in the @carlsbad5000 (5k) in California, in a magnificent 13:24!
Est. 1986, The Carlsbad 5000 is Southern California’s premier 5K road race, donned, the “World’s Fastest 5k.”
It is a legendary flat-and-fast race with an out-and-back course entirely on Coast Highway 101. The Carlsbad 5000 course is USATF-sanctioned and certified and Sam won by a margin of 8 seconds, meaning this result has only been bettered by Marc Scott, and yes, you guessed it, Sam himself (13:16).
Having only raced a handful of times last year (notably, the Paris Olympic Games), it’s amazing to see LWAC life member Sam back to winning ways having recently signed a new contract extension with @puma @pumarunning @pumaeliterunning
