Off the back of an impressive debut performance for Team GB Juniors, LWAC U20 athlete Mabel Akande is once more selected to represent the nation in the upcoming Mannheim International in Germany.
Going from strength to strength with every race, Mabel is now ranked 2nd in Europe in the U20 category. It’s incredible to think that she is only a first year in this age group, at 17 years old.
Outside of the World and European Championships, this event is the most prestigious there is for young international athletes, often acting as a catapulting pathway to their next big opportunity.
It’s been quite the year for Mabel, coached by Denise Timmis, having started the year with several personal bests, representing her country for the first time, as well as signing to Blue Carpet Sports Management.
The event takes place on 22nd and 23rd June, so let’s all wish Mabel well and support her as yet another athlete to come out of our club performing exceptionally well on the big stage. It’s an exciting future ahead for the Lincoln sprinter!
